When can I resume Cardio Workouts after Breast Augmentation?

After breast augmentation, you need to take some time away from strenuous exercise and certain types of physical activity. This downtime gives your body time to heal successfully – it’s important for both your health and the quality of your results. Breast augmentation recovery will include restrictions on certain cardiovascular exercises as well as weight-lifting activities.

The only way to know exactly what to expect from downtime is to come discuss the procedure with one our board-certified plastic surgeons. Although generally you shouldn’t participate in any strenuous cardiovascular activities for about 6 weeks, this timeline can be influenced by the particulars of your procedure as well as your personal physical profile. Immediately after surgery, you can and should walk around as much as you like. After about 2 weeks, it’s usually okay to do mild cardio activity such as brisk walking or stair climbing. We see you in the office each week, following surgery, and can help you along in the exercise plan each week.

The best way to plan for this surgery is to speak to our team. We’ll give you all the information you need to plan for time away from work, social activities and strenuous exercise. It’s also important to remember to listen to your body and to be careful about doing too much work or exercise in the first few days after surgery.
