What Do I Need to Know About ALCL?

ALCL stands for anaplastic large cell lymphoma. Studies have suggested a possible association between certain types of breast implants and the development of ALCL. With the recent voluntary recall of specific textured breast implants manufactured by Allergan, it is understandable if you have questions about this rare lymphoma.

Board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Jeremy Williams discusses the essential information you need to know about ALCL in the following video. Additionally, he explains what you should do if you have breast implants and are considering removing them due to concerns over ALCL.

If you have Allergan textured breast implants, it is crucial to know that the FDA is not recommending removing them without symptoms, due to the low risk of developing BIA-ALCL. Other implants, such as the Mentor Smooth Round Moderate Plus implants that we prefer to use at Park Meadows Cosmetic Surgery, were not involved in the recall and have not been linked to this condition.

If you have questions about BIA-ALCL, please contact us today at 303-706-1100. Our plastic surgeons will happily discuss any concerns that you may have. We serve Lone Tree, Denver, and the surrounding areas of Colorado.
