TRANSCRIPT: Breast lift is a procedure that causes a lot of confusion for patients because the terminology itself can be confusing in that the breast itself is not actually lifted vertically on the chest. It’s reshaped into a new position that gives a more youthful shape and contour to the breast. Patients who might need a breast lift are patients where the nipple has dropped below the fold that is underneath the breast. Some patients might require both a lifting procedure and an augmentation procedure to have an idealized breast shape. Most of the patients that require a breast lifting procedure have had children and have had normal changes in their breast after pregnancy.
