If you are considering tummy tuck surgery, you may be wondering if you should wait to pursue the procedure, or if now is the best time. There are a couple things to consider, if you are planning to become pregnant:
- None of the types of tummy tuck will affect your ability to become pregnant or the progression of a pregnancy. So, if you plan to have more children or have not ruled out the possibility, then you can still be a good tummy tuck candidate.
- If you do have a tummy tuck and later become pregnant, the pregnancy is likely to change the results of the procedure. A tummy tuck removes stretched skin, but a pregnancy will cause this skin to stretch once again.
- The muscles tightened during a tummy tuck may stretch out, once again, if pregnancy occurs after a tummy tuck.
There is no right or wrong answer as to when is the best time for a tummy tuck, only the right answer for your life, goals and priorities. During your consultation, you can discuss your interest in a tummy tuck with one of our plastic surgeons. We will determine whether you are a tummy tuck candidate, and help you get all the information you need to make the decision that is right for you.
