The whole month of October is designated as National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This designation exists for many reasons, including for the purpose of raising awareness of the importance of early detection of breast cancer. It's also a time for survivors to share stories and information about their treatment experience, as well as stories of their level of satisfaction with the breast reconstruction process and their results.
The US Department of Health and Human Services asks us all to take advantage of this awareness-raising month to consider the importance of:
- Getting screened for breast cancer.
- Encouraging women age 40 to 49 to talk to their doctors about when they should start getting mammograms.
- Encouraging women age 50 to 74 to talk to their doctors about getting mammograms every 2 years.
At Park Meadows Cosmetic Surgery, we also want to make sure women are aware of their reconstructive breast surgery options following mastectomy. Over the years, several studies have shown that many women are not informed of their breast reconstruction options after cancer treatment. Although not every woman will elect to undergo the procedure, we want to make sure that you know what the options are so that you can make the best decision for your health and wellbeing.
If you are searching for an experienced Lone Tree and greater Denver breast reconstruction surgeon, please contact Park Meadows Cosmetic Surgery to schedule a consultation with one of our board-certified plastic surgeons.
