Many of our Denver patients are busy people, and that means you don’t have a lot of time to spend in recovery from a liposuction procedure. As a result, we get a lot of questions about what can be expected from the post-liposuction recovery process.
Every patient is unique, and it is important to remember thatthe recovery process after undergoing liposuction will vary from patient to patient.
However, most patients can expect to spend a day or so resting after the procedure. After that you should begin some light exercise; walking is very important to your recovery, as it increases blood flow and aids the healing process.
For the first 48 hours or so after your liposuction procedure you should have someone around to help you with simple tasks, manage any medications you may be taking, and make sure you’re feeling well.
You can usually return to work within four to seven days after your surgery, though if your job involves strenuous physical activity and heavy lifting you should ask your physician what he recommends for recovery time.
You can expect mild swelling and bruising after your liposuction, but nothing too significant or inconvenient. Most likely, the bruising will be in areas covered by clothing. After undergoing liposuction you’ll be fitted for a compression garment to wear for a couple weeks. This garment will fit tightly and will help reduce swelling. Most likely, it will also be covered by your clothing and is very unnoticeable under your clothing. It’s imperative to keep on all the time for maximum results.
Finally, it’s important to come back to Park Meadows Cosmetic Surgery for all regularly scheduled post-liposuction visits. Our doctors will schedule these with you before you undergo your procedure.
