Recovery from breast augmentation varies by patient. We'll discuss your exercise routine, job duties and other things you need to take a break from while you recover. Generally, recovery from breast augmentation involves the following:
Taking a break from physical activity: In the hours and first several days after breast augmentation, restrict your physical activity to walking. After 2 weeks, you may be able to incorporate moderate activities like brisk walking, but nothing too vigorous or that gets your blood pressure too high. All strenuous lifting and physical activities should be resumed after 6 weeks.
Time off from work: Most of our breast augmentation patients return to work after 1 or 2 weeks. At this point, much of the swelling should have dissipated and you should be feeling well enough to return to the demands of your job. If you have a job in which you have to do heavy lifting, you may need to wait several weeks before you return.
Follow-up appointments: Following your breast augmentation surgery, we will schedule follow-up appointments to monitor how you are healing and how you are feeling about your results. First we'll see you 1 week after surgery, and then you will continue to visit us for several more regular appointments.
