After any type of plastic surgery procedure, it's important to take care of yourself and allow yourself time to recover. It's not uncommon to have some bruising and swelling, and mild discomfort. These things will begin to resolve over the days following your procedure. Our office and plastic surgeons will give you postoperative instructions and make sure you know what to expect in the hours, days and weeks after your surgery. Depending on the procedure, some of the things that may be involved in your recovery are:
- Restrictions on your work-related duties
- Restrictions on exercise and other types of physical activity
- Avoiding lifting heavy objects
- Keeping water away from incision sites
- Returning to our office for follow-up appointments
Taking time to heal is important for both your health and your results. We'll ask you to designate a family member or friend to pick you up from our office and stay with you for at least 24 hours. In the 24 hours following surgery, you should take the time to rest. Make sure you don't have any chores or tasks you have to complete during this time, and relax by watching movies, reading, taking short walks and doing other things you enjoy.
