Although a breast lift is a great way to restore firm, perky breasts, there are little things you can do non-surgically to stave off the sag. A recent article from Good Housekeeping is informing women of the 9 everyday things they can do to prevent sagging breasts:

  1. Drink more orange juice. Vitamins B and C are good for your breast tissues, as well as for the rest of your body! Drink a glass of orange juice once a day to get these important vitamins, which benefit the supportive tissues and collagen in your breasts, keeping the tissue more elastic and youthful.
  2. Skip the junk food. Just like highly processed, high-sugar foods tend to affect your belly, butt and thighs, these foods can also affect the appearance of your breasts. Junk foods can make you gain weight in your breasts, but in a way that makes them less round and firm.
  3. Know how weight loss affects your breasts. When you lose a significant amount of weight, particularly in a short amount of time, your breasts may look deflated as a result of the reduced fat in your breasts.
  4. Quit smoking. Smoking causes sagging, inelastic skin in many areas, including your breasts and face.
  5. Don't skip moisturizing your breasts. Moisturizing your skin is an important way to delay the sagging effects of age. Just like your face, neck and elsewhere, your breasts should be moisturized daily.
  6. Wear a great sports bra for running. Colorado is a fabulous place to be a runner. If you're running every day, the frequent bouncing motion can lead to breast sag. Although you can't eliminate this type of momentum when you're running, you can reduce the effects by wearing a well-fitted, high-impact sports bra.
  7. Consider wearing a bra when you sleep. Especially for large-chested women, wearing a comfortable bra to bed may help you maintain great breast shape. There are a variety of T-shirt bras and bralettes that are breathable and relatively comfortable to sleep in.
  8. Protect your breasts from sun damage. At elevations of 5280' and higher, Coloradoans are vulnerable to some intense UV damage. Anytime you're out in the sun for a good portion of the day, be sure to apply sunblock to any exposed skin, including your décolletage. UV rays are really damaging to your skin, causing it to look saggy and dehydrated.
  9. Wear the right bra size. A lot of women are wearing the wrong bra size every day. A properly fitted bra keeps your breasts supported, thereby preventing sag and combating the pull of gravity. Next time you go to purchase a bra, have the salesperson size you. Although it takes a little extra time, you'll be glad you did it.
