Press Release
Colorado Maxillofacial/Cosmetic Surgeon Improves Quality of Life for Patients in Vietnam
Denver,
CO (PRWEB) July 17, 2006 – Randolph
C. Robinson, MD, DDS, founder of
Park Meadows Cosmetic Surgery and
FACE the Challenge, recently returned
from Vietnam after a ten-day trip
providing orthognathic surgeries
to thirteen needy men and women with
facial deformities.
After providing services for people across the world over the past 13 years, Dr Robinson lead a team of eleven to Vietnam where they not only offered their services to the select thirteen people, but they also provided training on orthognathic surgery for an audience of 30 Vietnamese surgeons.
“Our goal went beyond helping a few patients,” stated Dr. Robinson. “Our goal was also to educate the leading maxillofacial surgeons so that they could continue helping patients for years to come.”
Many of the patients selected for receiving this year’s surgeries had had these conditions for years. Some were born with preexisting conditions; others suffered fractures and breaks that went un-repaired. Though all had come from different situations, they all shared hope and the desire for a better life.
While the goal of all FACE The Challenge missions is to provide as many corrective surgeries as possible during the visit, the other objective is to build camaraderie with these developing countries. This year, FACE The Challenge reached new heights as they were invited by the Vietnam team to travel to Hochiminh City (Saigon). Dr. Robinson and his team accepted the offer, and used the time to build solid relationships with the entire Vietnam team.
“Helping is more than providing relief to one person. It’s about taking the time to really understand the needs of the community,” stated Dr. Robinson. “Building these relationships now will ultimately affect thousands in the future.” Pictures available upon request.
More about orthognathic surgery
Orthognathic
surgery, or corrective jaw surgery,
is the process of correcting the
jaw placement. The procedure requires
the expertise of an oral and Maxillofacial
surgeon. Orthognathic surgery is
usually performed in late adolescence
or early adulthood, after the patient’s
growth spurt has occurred. Typically
orthognathic surgery is performed
to help patients correct jaw deformities
related to disproportionate growth
either in the maxilla (the midface
bone containing the teeth) or in
the lower jaw. Visit http://www.parkmeadowscosmeticsurgery.com/orthognathic.cfm
