A Pain Relief Solution For Many Of Today's Top Surgeries
What if you could control your postoperative pain easily? Now that option may be a reality for many patients.
Park Meadows Cosmetic Surgery is now using the ON-Q Pain Buster for many of its top procedures, including breast augmentation and tummy tucks. For patients, it means a shorter recovery time, more control in dealing with pain, and less risk from traditional pain medication side effects.
The ON-Q Pain Buster is a small balloon pump that holds a three to five day supply of local anesthetic, and continually delivers the medication directly into the surgical incision through a tiny tube. It is implanted during the surgery, and can be worn in a fanny pack or clipped to your clothing during recovery. At the end of the supply, it can be easily removed by the patient or doctor, with little or no discomfort.
One of the positive reasons for using this system is the reduction in narcotics use. Typically without a pain pump, a patient will take 1-2 narcotic tablets every 3-4 hours for the first 3-5 days after surgery. By using the ON-Q Pain Buster, many patients are reducing their intake of narcotic tablets down to 3-4 pills over a 4 day period. This reduced level of narcotics use puts you back into your active lifestyle quicker, and reduces the chances for drug dependency.
