Botox: How Often Should I Schedule Treatments?

Botox is an injection that produces paralysis to specific facial muscles. This paralysis eliminates or lessens the wrinkles that arise on top of the muscle.

Botox works by blocking the nerve signal that stimulates muscle movement. This block will usually take full effect within 36 hours after injection.

The junctions between your nerves and muscles are constantly being turned over, and will gradually return to normal after approximately 3 months. Because of this turnover, its necessary to repeat Botox injections about every 3 months to maintain your new look and feel. Learn more about Botox

Meet Dr. Randolph C. Robinson

Dr. Randy Robinson is double board certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery. He completed his medical and dental degrees at the University of Missouri-Kansas City and after his surgery training in the United States trained with Dr. Paul Tessier in Paris, France. He has a passion for helping those with severe facial deformities and travels to various developing countries to help children with cleft lip and palate and craniofacial anomalies. Dr. Robinson, along with his wife, Ginger, formed Face The Challenge to foster their desire to show the love of Christ to others in need in the third world.

Dr. Robinson lectured to 240 surgeons for two hours on Distraction Osteogenesis this month at the Denver Review Course in Oral and Maxillofacial. The course is sponsored by the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center and the Schools of Medicine and Dentistry where Dr. Robinson is clinical professor. He also lectured last month at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery on limb reconstruction using his internal distraction osteogenesis devices. The devices are submerged below the skin and can perform limb lengthening with less pain and easier/faster recovery. Dr. Robinson hopes that the devices he invented will be able to help soldiers wounded in the War on Terror.

In cosmetic surgery, Dr. Robinson is using a new technique in the facelift operation. The procedure involves the Harmonic Scalpel made by Ethicon Endosurgery, a division of Johnson and Johnson. The scalpel vibrates at super fast speed and cause less tissue damage and virtually no bleeding. Therefore, the patients heal faster and can return to work sooner since the bruising is minimal. The Harmonic Facelift opens the door for many patients who don’t have the time for the normal three week recovery.
